Hi Chris.

Flash exposure compensation (FEC) works from both the
In body and from the 550EX. It can be set on either
one individually or both. If FEC is set on both, then
the speedlite's FEC setting is used (i.e. it
over-rides the FEC setting on the body).

My preference is to set it on the speedlite because
it's more visible (i.e it's always visible on the
speedlites LCD, so it reminds me!) than setting FEC on
the body, because FEC setting aren't usually displayed
on the bodies LCD without pressing a button (at least
not on the bodies I have). You may prefer the
reverse, it's a matter of personal preference.

As to the battery cover door, yes it's a pig of a
thing to open and close on mine too. It always gives
me the feeling that it's about to snap off! My old
540EZ was slightly better in that respect, but not by
much.

BTW if you decide you don't like your 135/f2, I'd be
happy to take it off your hands for a nominal fee :-)

Regards
Gary
