According to Canon's literature, these are the two split-image screens available
in the Ec series (there are also equivalent screens in the E series--RT and 6xx
bodies). The Ec-B New Split can be used "for general photography with all
lenses," whereas with the Ec-L Cross-Split Image screen, "best results [are]
obtained when using an aperture of f/5.6 or faster."
