It may be difficult to find two-step switch with double contacts.
But you could use two simple double-switches, one for shutter
"half-down" and the other for "full-down". That would mean
you need to use two switches, possibly with two hands.
E.g. press the lefthand button to activate AE (& AF) and then
use the right hand button to trigger the shutter.
I don't know what would happen if you press the "full-down"
switch only...
Actually, for other reasons, I was measuring the voltage of remote
release connector pins in normal state in EOS-50E and EOS-3 and
found out that they behave differently so I wouldn't put the
remote release wires from these two cameras together. Even
with similar cameras connecting the wires would lead to leakage
currents between camera bodies which might have some ill effects.
Oh yes, you could get rid of most of this by using diodes but then
I'm not sure the remote release would work any more.
In EOS-3 the normal level voltages (when no shutter button is
pressed) are a bit less than 5 Volts but in EOS 50E the
"full-down" pin Voltage is 0 normally and jumps to 5 Volts
when the shutter release is half down. The "half-down" pin
Voltage in 50E is normally about 1.7Volts but jumps to 5 Volts
when exposure meter is on (couple seconds) after the shutter
button has been released.
