I think the list should be interested in this: should I say, should
accept this at ON TOPIC and therefore valid because it is EXACTLY and
TOTALLY EOS specific rather than a generic problem.
It is not the same at all as firing two of my old cameras with a
manual cable release.
The remotes suggestions:
radio remotes don't sound a cheap solution to me. I have access to
two cable releases (camera fairs) I can cannibalise but can't spend
hundreds of dollars.
Next: I have EOS1n, EOS RT and EOS 50e ... their shutter lag times
and general response times are not identical. I would not be
surprised if there was a finite delay .. (note: I'm talking about
fast angular shifts in the subject across the view. If I could afford
a matching body (to either of the above) I would be less sceptical.
As to AF and auto-exposure: these are irrelevant (totally) for my
uses. matrix metering on one scene I just did gave over 3-stops
difference when shifting the camera 3 inches (high contrast macro
scene).
As to AF:
A) the cameras are not pointing at the same spot: their film planes
are by necessity parallel (discussion on why is interesting but OFF
TOPIC for sure).
B) both matched lenses want to be focussed at EXACTLY the same
distance. If is no good if the sensors do not coincide.
C) stereo shots tend to be planned rather than just happen (excluding
just general landscapy types).
Anyway: thanks to all who have replied so far .... sadly no url of a
chap who actually makes and sells the exact item though ;o(
