It seems that I have came in a bit late to this interesting
discussion of firing two EOS cameras at the same time.

Based on the knowledge I gained from RS-60E3 remote
pin-out and extending the RS-60E3 remote, I suspect
firing (and perhaps focusing) two EOS cameras with one
RS-60E3 remote wouldn't be very hard at all.

In fact, the EOS camera uses the RS-60E3 remote as a
contact switch. It seems to me all you need is a mini-plug
splitter connected to two EOS cameras. Mini-plug splitter
can be had for a buck or two at the local Radio Shack. See
my articles on www.CameraHacker.com for Radio Shack
part list.

Simply press the RS-60E3 half way to focus both cameras
and push it all the way down to fire. I will give this a try
this weekend when I assemble all the parts. I will let you
guys know the result here and on my Camera Hacker site.

Now, how usable is this system is debatable, because as
mentioned before, the time lag may be an issue and the
auto-focus can also be an issue. It really depends on the
subject you are trying to take.

It seems to me that this simple set-up is most useful for
still art, where the subject is non-moving. Thus, you have
all the time and leisure to aim and focus both cameras.

For large, slow moving subjects, AF can possibily be used
if you feel the large subject is withing AF points of both
camera. The time lag wouldn't be much issue if the subject
is slow moving and lighting is good.

For small, fast moving subject, your best bet is probably
to pre-aim and pre-focus. Then used the RS-60E3 to
fire off the shots. Time lag will be a problem for very
fast moving subject, so the best bet is to use two camera
bodies that are the same, or at least the same lag time.
