Hi Pattie,
AFAIK they are both excellent cameras. I have owned a 3 for just
over a year now, and it is a great body. I am now after a second
body, and will probably be getting a 1V. With the 1V you loose the
ECF, but everything else is at least as good, if not improved. The
AF is better, the evaluative metering is better, and it is more
durable, but heavier. You also have the option of the EOS-link S/W.
If you don't want ECF and don't mind the extra weight, go for the
1V.
