By any chance did you ever use this lens (the 300/4L) with a 1.4TC? I
suspect a 2xTC would be asking too much.
This fall I'm considering buying a "bird lens" in the $1500 range, so
obviously I'm considering the 100-400IS, but I'm attracted to the idea
of a fixed focal length lens.
