In part, yes, because the nature of the subject plays
a role as well. Shoot organic forms suchas in a portrait
and digital performs far better than with geometrical
repeated patterns.

The resolution of the scanner can't add more to the 
picture than the lens resolution allows to record.

In memory of what my LS-30 delivers (crappy thing), I'd
favor the EOS-1D in this race.

To record film grain rather than living with interpolation 
artefacts. Compare to my interpolation tests at
