Hi Malcolm and Robbi, AFAIK, the D30 only works with autoexposure E-TTL flash. Setting the 550EX CF3=1 for TTL mode only disables the flash (but leaves the AF-assist beam enabled). See: http://www.dlcphotography.net/D30Tips.htm
