Hi Robbi, You've no doubt seen Neil's correction (copied below) to my quick fix! If I'm right about specular reflections causing the problems, and the D30/550EX can't go into TTL mode, I can only suggest you try getting your flash off-camera and using either another 550EX (with main flash turned off) or an ST-E2 to fire it. If this gives more consistent exposures, then I guess you could probably blame the specular reflections I've seen on slides. Don't know where you go then though!
