Evrim, So, I'm not dreaming! And NOBODY else has experience this besides you and me? I'm wondering what the source of the problem is and why Canon aren't copping to it. Or have they? This is a disaster for those of us who do mostly candid-type photography. My company bought the 550EX (along with the D30) in good faith, assuming that since it was the dedicated flash unit that it would perform appropriately. And, as I mentioned before, I've never had this problem with film (1N/450EZ). I'm wondering if D60 or 1D owners have experienced the same wild inconsistencies with the 550EX. Anyone? And why can't I get any daylight fill out of this top-of-the-line-not-particularly-cheap flash? Doesn't make sense. Might just have to give the Thrystor a try.
And a big thanks to everyone who tried to figure this one out. I'm working on all your suggestions! Robbi, I mentioned this in many boards, and a lot of people didn';t believe me. This is exactly the behaviour I got from my Sigma Super 500 as well (another e-ttl) with D30. YOu are much better off with a Thrystor auto flash. Trust me. I shoot a lot of ballroom photos and they turn out pretty gfood with that setting. http://www.swingout.net/photos/EverythingsJake_1_25_2002/ (the pics before 129 are taken this way with Sunpak 383 Super) I am sorry that you experience this. FEL is a solution but like you, I do candid photography. There are many things to consider in candid photography and doing a FEL on the subject face is not usually an option. * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
