Heck, I'll jump in here.  What I tell my clients is that what makes a good 
photograph is "Do YOU like it?"

Ever since first playing with the Canon 50 1.0, I have wanted to use it for 
portraits.  I personally think it could provide a very very interesting set 
of options, esp digitally where you seem to have an extra couple of stops 
thrown in.

I can think of several situations where it would be very intersesting to 
simply have the subject's eye in focus and everything else out.
