Two things are my main reason for wanting to go only with a full frame. I
want a portrait to look like it should. I do not want to blur out in
Photoshop, I want compression effects from 85-100mm lenses. I also want the
same blurred backgrounds. I don't want to alter my own shooting style:)

Next, I would like to be able to do long exposure wide field astro. I want
low noise.

Sad thing is, if I had had the money when all the stores were clearancing
out the N Digital, I would have bought one. Happened like two months ago:(

I would prefer to stick to Canon, so I don't have to buy new lenses. Hell,
who knows. Maybe they will soon bring out a 1Ds Mark II, and klll the value
of used 1Ds. That would be very cool.

Subject: RE: EOS - sensor size on future dSLR's

If you don't care which brand system you buy then I
assume you are willing to buy new lenses with the
body. If this is true then you must be REALLY into
"14mm" type shooting or are mentally attached to the
35mm equivalent numbering system. What exactly do you
mean by "full frame"? Little by little camera
manufacturers are coming out with new 12-20mm type
zooms that probably work great but just can't cover a
true 35mm frame. These lenses will probably get better
over time too.

Bigger sensors do mean lower noise but I really think
the camera manufacturers will spend more effort
lowering the noise level of the current 1.3x-1.6x
sensor either through semiconductor enhancements, new
signal processing algorithms or both. This would
provide the evolutionary effect of allowing us to use
faster ASA/ISO speed film with the same grain. The
smaller size lenses would make the camera lighter.
