Maybe I'm missing something, but "downloading" and "rename" have always been handled as a single step for me, so you could "download" as many pictures as you want (and have them renamed as you do so) from as many cameras as you have, and then have at it with your editing/browsing software. Are you having trouble finding s/w that will transfer and rename your images in one step, or are they not meeting your criteria? (It seems that everybody has slightly different quirks about how they want their images transferred/renamed.)
