Well, downloading for me is moving the files from the CF card to my
computer. I use Capture One which can easily rename any files. Like I
said though, I keep my filenames of all previews as from camera and
put a prefix on all keepers for sorting as subject. The camera number
always stays with all files for easy finding later.

I guess no matter what your system, there's no avoiding actually going
in and renaming each image for later finding. Using folders of course
for grouping them.
