Others have probably given valuable ideas and better
ways to handle this. I had the same problem when I
first used the A80 and S50 at the same time and got
hit with identical file numbers. My solution was to
use good old DOS commands:
1. Copy all files into a temp folder, say c:\img\stage
2. Open a DOS box and navigate to the folder
3. Issue a command like this:
c:\img\stage> ren IMG*.* A70*.*
or for the s50:
c:\img\stage> ren IMG*.* S50*.*
(about 30 seconds or less for the entire navigation
and command issuance)
(I also have the commands now in a batch file and all
I do is double click that on my desktop to do this.)
This way I can freely mix and match entire batches
together without any apprehensions of overwriting
files from the other camera. I can also easily
identify which ones came from which camera in a zap !
May not work for everyone, but no need for fancy
software, and is painless once you can figure out a
naming protocol/convention to use and stick with it
(esp. powerful with bact files, or in unix - shell
scripts). The date and time stamps are already a part
of what you see in windows explorer for the files
anyways, so, IMHO these are redundant as file name
fillers.
HTH.
