PS: don't forget that a large amount of Contax users will originate from the old days, where 'Zeiss' was still the only thing worthwile, apart from Leica....it's probably just as much a generation-shift than a technology-shift.
I suspect the vast majority of the people that understood what Zeiss-Ikon was, what Voigtlander and Rollei were, and that there was once a mighty German camera industry, are no longer with us. What is left is getting fewer every day. I don't seem to have a lot of trouble finding user blackdial Contax IIa rangefinders in around-$200 range. That really is a kind of tragedy. :-(
Early Kiev rangefinders (Contax in everything but the name) can be found for less than $100.
Heck, I remember the pre-Kyocera Yashica (Minister and Lynx rangefinders, Yashicamat TLR's) and the people who appreciate those are few and far between... the prices being asked reflect that.
