I finally did get the 20d as a backup to the 1D Mark II, with the lack
of AF at f8 being the last thing that kept me from doing so.  Do the
math using the 'multiplier' effect, and there's not as much difference
as you'd think.

On the 1D, a 200mm lens with the 1.4TC gives you a 200x1.3x1.4 effective
focal length, or 364mm.  On the 20D, using the same lens WITHOUT a TC,
you get 200x1.6, or 320mm.  Not a huge difference, you've still got AF
at f5.6, and the added image quality and weight benefits of not needing
the TC.

OTOH, I would love to see the mid-range 3D (or whatever) that would fill
in the gaps which keep me from using the 20D as much as I thought I
would.  For me, faster AF performance and a better viewfinder for low
light/fast action conditions would make it a better option, and making
the big battery grip optional would seal the deal.
