Haven't kept track of more recent mid- and lower-grade models, but
the series 1 were also known for a very low battery-drain in bulb-
mode:

Why not a 1Ds mark-I, to keep the camera-
handling/ergonomy/composition equal?....;))
Remember, on PhotoKina 2006 there will probably yet another 1D
version launched, so price of the older series will also drop by
then.
