If you can afford it, you probably want to go for the fast glass, especially if you missed a once-a-lifetime shot later on because you didn't have the f2.8 IS. Me? I'm waiting 2 more weeks to get the f2.8 IS as I hear from reliable source there will be a price drop on some L lenses (including the f2.8 IS) from April to June, at least this is in Canada, not sure if this is worldwide.
