Nope, at least not with my 1D Mk 2, just one press to focus and trip the shutter as I would with "regular" single frame shooting, the mirror returns when the shutter release is, uh, released half way, and that's what the help-menu screen on the camera says when I enabled the P.Fn., so I don't have any issue using this mode all the time, save confusing the Canon technician :-) > When using the quiet mode, it's the only time I ever shoot in single > frame. Quiet mode only works in single frame mode. > My normal shooting is always in continuous, with the rate set to > low (about 4 fps). I don't machine-gun it, but I don't hold back ;-) > Beauty of digital! I use the high speed 8.5 frames/second mode all the time, then delete unwanted images as necessary right away in the field (BTW, I've read comments that one should "never" delete files in the field since it might cause file corruption on the CF card, well, I've shot 37,000 frames in the past 1.5 years and always deleted unwanted files in the field, never had a problem yet), I never use the low frame rate since I either need the high frame rate, or don't need it at all.
