When I first messed about with a custom mount for attaching a Pentax K
lens onto a D60, I got a similar error. IIRC I had to machine a small
part of one of the mounting flanges off to allow the camera to fire. The
basis of the conversion was a simple EF/M42 adapter of the type that can
be readily purchased from camera shops or eBay sellers. The version I
got would not allow the D60 to fire when mounted, until I filed a small
portion off. I think it was pretty obvious which portion. I confirmed it
by not locating the mount all the way into the lock position where I was
able to fire the shutter, yet another short twist into the locked
position and no go.
