>I am looking at the new Rebel XTi. Its performance is very similar to the >30D. It lacks the spot metering, the 5fps, 1/8000s shutter and the 1/250s >flash sync. Besides that the two cameras seems to be almost identical. The >XTi even offers more pixel, the self-cleaning sensor, and a $300 lower cost >over the 30D. Unless you need any of the above mentioned shortcomings is >there any reason why I still might want to buy the 30D over the Rebel XTi? Ok, I found two big differences. First the Rebel does not have an info display on top but it was combined with the LCD in the back. That's too bad. Also the Rebel does not have the thumb wheel in the back, something I really would miss. Has anybody any experience with the info being displayed on the LCD? Is it cumbersome? Does the info screen come on automatically when you start changing the ISO or other settings and then automatically go back to the preview when nothing happens for a couple of seconds? Also what kind of buttons do you have to press when setting the aperture and shutter speed in manual mode? Finally, how do you manually change the focusing point?
