As for grips, there are actually three that will fit the 1n/3/1v bodies, the
PB-E1 and PB-E2 boosters, both of which contain motors, and the BP-E1
battery pack, which contains only batteries. All three use AA batteries, the
very early BP-E1's and PB-E1's were problematic with some types of
rechargeables. The boosters "boost" the frame rate and hold 8 AA cells, the
battery pack only hold 4 cells (but is lighter and half an inch shorter. The
boosters both had identical vertical controls, the battery pack did not.

There's an old discussion of the attributes of each here that Malcolm and I
and others tossed around a few years back:

http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg12657.html

As Malcom has pointed out, the digital bodies will only work with ETTL
flashes (even in manual mode the EZ speedlites don't work on most digital
bodies). However ANY of the EX speedlites will do ETTL and ETTL-II (ETTL-II
is a camera feature, not a flash feature).

You'll enjoy the 1n, much smoother shape than your old 650, no worry about
the shutter grease decomposing, built evenb more like a tank, and best of
all you don't have to track down a tough-to-find GR-20 Grip just to get a
shutter release connector :)
