I am in a real dilemma. I have a 1946 415 C
85 that has a 125 to 150 drop on the right mag.
I have replaced all the plugs, the wiring harness,
the p lead, overhauled the slick magnetos and had the carb overhauled as
well. Any thoughts? My mechanic is out of suggestions.
The mechanic is a good general mechanic and Cessna
etc mechanic but does not have a lot of experience with Ercoupes. I am
based at Deer Valley in Phoenix if you know of a mechanic that is good with
coupes.
What is the timing supposed to be set at as I have
received a couple of vastly different numbers?
If the carburetor was overhauled to the specs for a
C75 or the carburetor is running rich, would that produce my problems? I
talked to a mechanic who told me that the person who overhauled the carb does
not do a flow check. Just trying to troubleshoot regarding the possibility
that something may have been overhauled or done wrong.
Is there anything you can think of that could cause
the drop or any direction you could give me in rechecking or
troubleshooting?
Thanks, Randy
