Hi All....

I hope I can get some good pointers from the group on this one.

I'd like to attend a fly in in August at a field a couple of hours away from home plate, problem is it's a gravel field and I don't have any experience with turf/gravel and need some help with this

Here are the conditions I'll be looking at more or less.

Field-Gravel
Length-3200 x 75
Elevation-2265 ft ASL
Temp-guestimated 20 degrees C
Prop-Cruise-7348
Landing Weight-Approx 1200 lbs.

Any suggestions for landing/to under these conditions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Bob,
Home field (id68) here is
surface - mowed weeds
elev - 2865
length - 1800 useable at the moment

My plane is a C model w/ 85 hp conversion and a 76ak-2-48 prop. At full gross wt, landing is never a problem. Taking off on a 100 degree day is not what I would call comfortable, but so far I have always had my 50 ft. by the end of the runway. All planes vary. Most important is to know your personal plane. When I first got my Ercoupe, A pilot friend of mine suggested we make a performance bench mark for future ref. He (230 lbs) and I (165 at the time) flew to a grass strip ( 1 mile high X 1 mile long) and measured take offs and landings, unloaded and loaded. The numbers have been very helpful ever since.
