Eliacim:

Since the bottom has low time, I would remind you that the bottom on these small continentals is quite sturdy and does hold up quite well.
I would consider the following:

A) replace the cylinders with four new Millenniums at roughly $1000 a piece when all is considered. A well worth expense. the old continental cylinders can be reworked, but they seldom hold up for long and you will be flying with one ear tuned to every little noise. You very seldom get a cylinder overhauled for $300 a piece. It is usually more plus freight, etc. and the quality of workmanship you get is a lottery these days.
I have spent more than $850 per cylinder during one year with several attempts and had to replace them anyhow.

B) remove the connecting rods and send them off to ECI so they will replace the bushings with new standard bushings. The journal bearings do not wear anywhere as much as the rod bearings do. replace the conn rod bolts and nuts. (a must).

C) Send the rockers to ECI also to have them re-surfaced because they should have a clean surface or they will not rotate the valves and the valves need to rotate well.

D) Re-assemble making sure you swap the rockers around until you get the valve clearances as equal as possible and well within the acceptable range.

E) Make sure all of the 8 hydraulic lifters work smoothly or replace those that don't.

F) Do step E before you do step D.

You will end up with an engine that will be almost as good as a total overhaul without having to split the case.
