David, I recovered my wings two months ago with Super Flight urethane system. Cost for materials for two wings ( epoxy primer, fabric ((blankets, not envelopes)) glue, tapes, solvents, inspection rings, drain grommets, cleaner, Spray coating and paint ) was just over $1000. No labor. The FBO where I did it allowed me to do the job under direct IA supervision. A fried and I just finished covering two sets of Piper PA-18 wings for him and he charged the owner $2000 labor (Cheap) for each set. I am retired as is my friend and we both enjoy doing volunteer work for the FBO three for four mornings a week and that is the reason for no labor charge to do my wings and the annual on my Cessna 150H. To get a good job, look around and ask the shop how many recover jobs they did recently and could you assist to lower the labor charge. Recovering wings is becoming a specialty task. Not many shops will do them and will price them very high so they don't have to do them. Recent AOPA or EAA article said that average price to recover and paint a J-3 Cub wings and fuselage is about $30,000. My IA told me that recovering fabric rings is no longer listed as a task required for A&P qualifications and has been removed from the test.
