I need to agree with Ed's recommendation on this, there will be a 2 control
restriction on the license if done in an Ercoupe without pedals. If an
examiner missed somebody, that's a gift unless there's a problem down the line.

  Tandy,

My general advice for those getting their license in 2-control Coupes is:

Do most of your lessons in your Coupe. Master flying.

Do the last hours in a 3-control plane getting training in slips, 3-control
crosswind landings, perhaps even a spin if the plane is rated for it. Take the
checkride in the 3-control rental plane. Practice and polish your skills for
the checkride.

You'll still save a bunch of money on the rental and lessons and yet get the
unrestricted license. On the side, you get the 3-control basic skill set.
