A I G is no more .They took the money ( billions ) and ran !

Thanks guys I have a power port but wanted to make sure.I'm kind of
cautious about running on AA batteries -even with spares.
On some coupes I see what looks like a top to the cockpit.I actually
have never pulled my side glasses up.Do they go all the way and meet in the
middle or is there a center piece ? I'm actually a little embarrased to ask ,
but I always fly open cockpit.

Some years back I owned an Ercoupe insured by AIG that was totaled.

At no time did they ask for logs, paper work, etc. I provided a written
statement of the incident, and an estimate of the damage signed by an A&P IA
(Not me).

They simply stated that the amount of damage resulted in a "total" and gave
me an opportunity to buy back the plane. They issued a check for the insured
amount less the amount I had bid. In addition I recieved a refund for the
unused portion of the policy.

When I purchased my replacement aircraft I was insured by the same company
with no penalty.
