Toyota has stated that they don't intend to make electric cars anytime in the near future. They claim that hybrids are a better use of battery technology.
GM on the other hand has stated that they intend to stop making gas powered cars, suvs and light trucks in the near future (no specific date yet) They intend to go 100% BEV and fool cell powered.
