No kidding. Although I have no idea why you're making a big deal of this, presumably you know all this stuff. But to recap - evolution is a process through which organisms gradually become better adapted to living in their environment through differential reproductive success. As I mentioned, it's possible that consciousness helps increase the chances of that success. Also, clearly, massive extinction events are outside the purview of evolutionary theory - but so what? You appear to be nitpicking, or rather not even that since so far you don't appear to have actually picked any. > (Don't even mention *ALL* the domains of fittness - we cannot know beyond > the limitations of our so far achieved model of the world what ELSE may be > around, so conclusions are illusorical.) > I have no idea what you're talking about. > > On Wed, Mar 11, 2015 at 9:04 PM, LizR <[email protected]> wrote: > >> On 12 March 2015 at 13:52, John Mikes <[email protected]> wrote: >> >>> That sure would mean "surviving benefit" - where does the term >>> "evolutionary" come from and why? >>> >> >> Evolution is reasonably well described as the survival of the fittest. >> >> -- >> You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups >> "Everything List" group. >> To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an >> email to [email protected]. >> To post to this group, send email to [email protected]. >> Visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/everything-list. >> For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout. >> > > -- > You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups > "Everything List" group. > To unsubscribe from this group and stop receiving emails from it, send an > email to [email protected]. > To post to this group, send email to [email protected]. > Visit this group at http://groups.google.com/group/everything-list. > For more options, visit https://groups.google.com/d/optout. > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Everything List" group.
