Physical calculations are physical. calculation is a sigma_1 arithmetical notion. It does not involve physics, nor analysis. You can define it in the theory

((K x) y) = x
(((S x) y) z) = ((x z) (y z))

That is shown very nicely in "How to Mock a Mocking bird" by Raymond Smullyan.

A notion is a belief or a desire but every belief or desire anyone had ever encountered requires a brain, and every brain ever encountered requires matter that obeys the laws of physics.

Sure, but the question is not about the need to have a physical brain to met people with physical brain, no one doubt that, but on how to explain such physical brain without just saying "God made it", or "Matter made it". That makes the question more difficult: what is Matter, and how can Matter selects the computations without putting in the mind non-computational element?
