The latest ver of Veritas BE touts SIS within its Brick Level backup routine. I have idea how well it really works.

When you perform individual mailbox backups, you are likely forcing the backup to create a copy of each message contained in each mailbox. If 1 message was sent to all 300 mailboxes (as an example), instead of only having one copy, and 300 pointers, you now have 300 copies in your backup. Newer versions may work better with this, but what are you really gaining by doing an individual mailbox backup?
