E2K3 SP1 allows for cross-site mailbox moves, which makes the upgrade
easier. Don't think on a scale of servers, think on a scale of mailboxes as
object here.

There's no need to move the 5.5 server - how many users are on that server?
Unless you answer "500" or more, I'd consolidate to one server -- of course,
take this with a grain of salt, as I know little about the number of folks
in your organization. But there's definitely another option here than the
one you're presenting, and it's worth thinking about.

Hmm thanks for that, that's interesting. The way I understood it 2003
didn't come with anything to let you move a server like that, just to
move/consolidate mailboxes?

At some point in the future we will be upgrading them to 2003, it's just not
a priority - I understood that however you choose to do things, once you
have a 2003 server in a site you can't move a 5.5 server into that site?

I'm downloading that tool as I speak so I'll see what that offers.

thanks,
Paul
