Ertoel, Sage :).  This one is definitely a quieter machine now, and I think
it's because they are using a polypropylene bearing rather than the leather
now.  But like DeeDee said, you're always going to have some sort of motor
whirring sound because it IS a motor!  Things are relative.  I spin watching
TV and it doesn't bother me there, so I have no problem.  Flyer whirring
noises on treadle wheels don't bother me either when I'm watching TV.  Or
the noises that come when you need to oil something.  But in a quiet room,
well, then I generally have to break down and oil something because I can
hear it!
