Holly,
First, I can find at least one copy of the Hald in English and several in
Danish off the bat - keep refining your book search techniques.

Second, try using your state university library - I'll bet if you were to go
to Ann Arbor or East Lansing, that you could, as a Michigan resident, use
the library on a day pass for reading anything they have. I discovered that
book doing the same down in Madison, where I go every Good Friday to read
several old textile books every year.

And if you don't find a rare book on the first try - remember it may take a
year or more. After searching for months I found a copy - in pristine
condition - for $100 - signed by Ms. Hald, inscribed to P.V. Glob - another
Danish archaeologist who wrote some rather well known books on the Bronze
and Iron Age cultures.

Those titles I threw out contained some very eclectic titles that are not
easily found in the provinces of the Midwest - and not always available for
quick gratification. Building up a good library takes time and effort.
