You can also insert a flat symbol by hitting Ctrl-Shift-F (Ctrl-Cmd-F on Mac). Similarly, use S for sharp and N for natural. In the Document Options, under Text, you can change the font, font size, and displacement for the various symbols. This way you don't have to change your default font in the text, but accidentals are still just a keystroke away.

This doesn't work outside of Finale. I think Charles means how does he insert flats and sharps (and other music symbols, for that matter!) into a word processor document without messing up line spacing.

I use Bach for occasional symbols as well, but it doesn't have a complete range of symbols I need.

I wonder how Finale handles it without making a huge gap between lines of text when music symbols are used? I have a very incomplete understanding of how text is handled in any application, in any case.
