The version of Kontakt Player included with GPO is customized for GPO.
Kontakt Player is, as you discovered, not a standalone product in any
event, and is not sold separately. Kontakt itself is a full-featured,
top-of-the-line sampler, which is far above and beyond our needs (or,
at least, my needs), and the price reflects that.
The "GPO Edition" of Kontakt Player will almost certainly be updated to
use the enhancements added in Kontakt 2.0, but that takes time. For
now, we just have to sit tight and be patient.
