If interested,

I heard some voice samples from VirSyn, not great but quite usable. Garritan is promising to come out with attached samples to its Personal Orchestra. However, though expensive to the tune of $380, Spectrasonic has 12000 odd vocal loops in its Vocal Planet. Unfortunately I could not find demos.

Now, about 5 minutes ago I finished surveying some of Kontact's demos. It has no vocals, only orchestral and pops. But I have to conclude that they're pretty good. And, mind you, they'll get better with time. In general, to get the right impression
of a demo, it must be compiled at the highest frequency possible. Some of the demos reach as high as 434 and 490 Kb (that's kilobits) so they sound pretty good in comparison with demos put out there by other manufacturers that run mostly at 128. There's all kind of progress made in the last year and the tendency is to get away from the canned sound of the synthesizers where the case warrants it. I gathered quite a library of data about all kinds of packages since I delved into researching this kind of software for the past few months. I'll buy only when fully edified that the particular software I'm going to settle with will be able to tailor some of its capabilities to my needs.

There are some other vocal packages out there such as Yamaha's Vocaloid (which doesn't quite impress me), VirSyn's Cantor and some others that I haven't explored yet. Thing is, the demos put out by these manufacturers are not evocative enough.
For ex., one cannot find anything of a belcanto type or a combo (NOT choir) of 3-4 or more, soloists singing simultaneously longer phrased melodies. The makers seem to cater mostly to rock, rap and hip stuff. Whether is lack of imagination or plain
neglect remains to be seen.

And Dennis, do you happen to be a descendent of the famous Bathory 16-17th century governing princes? If so your name should be Báthory Dénes.

John :-)
