Needless to say, I am not looking for the ideal thing. At today's
stage of development there's no perfectly realistic rendition of
instruments/voices. However, I am looking for a half decent
rendition, that is, on the average. It is not necessary to sound like
Heifetz or Kuhlenkampf or Morini or Oistrach or "even" Kreisler, just as a
decent violin. Neither is it necessary to sound like Andre or Harry (Sweet)
James or Margolis (the late solo trumpeter of the Leningrad Phil. who
produced fantastic Skriabin solos) or Armstrong or Ted Buckner, just a
decent trumpet, and so would go for most of the instruments.
What I am after is to save the rendition and, if decent, put it on a CD
for demo and send it out to publishers. I am not that vain to consider them
masterpieces. For that matter, I have no idea whether they're any good. But
here my concerns are
production concerns and that's why I asked you guys about the software.
Sibelius' demos are some good, some downright
awful (cellos and trumpet ensembles). You may counter me and then I'll
reconsider my opinion.
The songs are some for one soprano and guitar, others contain 5 singers
and 3 guitars who also play mandolin, and sometimes some light percussion
and harpsichord. The genre falls between pop and light classical, and
the style is
Spanish if one considers the characteristic harmonization and
melody/scales structure.
So, what I'd need from Finale is to insert these
instruments/voices into it in score form, than replay the songs, rewrite if
I am not satisfied, then replay again and if satisfied, record. If the
rendition is half decent realistic, and away from the MIDI sound, I'll be
very satisfied.
I don't know whether the above exposition is clear. If not,
please all of you let me know.
