Force Full Names is a measure attribute, not a staff style. I always use the context menu to apply staff styles for hiding cues, but only to get to the "Current Score/Part" pick list. I never actually select the staff style from the menu. I had not seen a problem before now, and it is hard to see how this is related.
I have a copy of the file from before I added the bar but so far haven't had much interest in seeing if I can break it again.
