Thanks to you and the others for what looks to be the answer to my current 
mystery wiring.  Now I need to see if the former owner packed away the relay. 
Do you happen to know if the alternator with the internal VR had studs for all 
the wires.

Not all 69's had external regulators. My T/A has an integral alternator. 
I'm not sure if the change was after a certain production time, or 
performance cars only, or perhaps what plant they came from.
