Dion,

I am usually the one who takes no prisoners regarding my opinions...

In my opinion, you should go with the big valves. I am not a fan of the 4x
6x heads. they came from a time when the engines were being choked from the
factory. Here I go...they are crap. Yes you can massage them, but they are
still smog heads... people get them because they are a cheap start and are
lured by the 2.11 intake valve. Don't be fooled !

Now let's think this through....

An engine is an air pump. A 455 is a fairly BIG air pump that needs to move
a LOT of air.

Compression equals power. The factory knew this during the muscle car prime
and compressed these motor to make power. Then dropped compression to kill
power... READ this...

and it is from Pontiac guys...

Now, let's say you go get yourself a set of GOOD iron heads, 670's 13's 16's
62's 48's, they will run you about $350+ for good cores (shipping too?).
Then you may need all new valves($200+), springs (for sure $100+) maybe a
few seats plus labor (2-$300)oh and guides too. By the time you resurrect
the "old" heads, you might as well buy a set of edelbrocks...

If you go the iron route, get a set of 67-70 big valve heads. Use the 6x's
to chock your wheels.

The only reason the go with the 'good' iron heads is the stock look or
resto.... it's a pay me now or pay me later proposition, old heads will
bleed you slow, hundred dollar you to death....new heads, bada-bing
bada-boom. done.

My opinion ? get the small chamber edelbrocks, and a nice solid lifter
106-108 (read: tight) centerline cam. then go pull houses off their
foundations with all the torque you will make!!!! Banzi !!!
