/usr/local/lib64 in its default search path, so OSG libraries are picked
up, 2) people don't realize that they are polluting /usr/local/lib with 32
bit simgear libraries, 3) the flightgear compilation command includes
-L/usr/local/lib even on 64 bit libraries, so everything seems hunky-dory,
or 4) people (like myself) never install simgear and flightgear in the
system directories.
One option would be to document one or more of these
