I think Subir dai (i m not sure though) would be able to provide with the official stand of the Nepali translation of FOSS. Personally, I feel that the free software movement has been severely jeopardized due to the shortcomings in English language. We had "free" software. Then some people chose to differ and to remove the ambiguity in the term they decided to refer to them as "open source". Of course, some chose to go mid way and call them "Free and Open Source" softwares. It is really weird hearing claims from people from the two camps arguing for the use of their term rather than the other's. And the whole non-english speaking community has to suffer. It is time we also start showing some concerns. South Asia is important and we should be able to have some say. I think "Swantra" software is the perfect way to name softwares of these category. Both in spirit (ethics as rms puts it) and in word (as esr puts it).
