What's your intent in changing the paper color? If you just want something other than white on your screen, you can modify the Windows Desktop settings to make the paper color be anything you like. Personally, I have mine set to be off-white. This helps me spot text boxes that I need to replace with imported images. The text boxes display in the same off-white as the rest of the page; the images display white even though they are otherwise identical with the text box content.
