I've finally been able to duplicate a problem with DOOM under VPC 2004 set at 512M, but not under straight FreeDOS with 1.5G free or selected smaller amounts of free memory. Whether it is the same as the problem reported, I can't say yet. This situation may be sufficient for testing since I'm finally getting a duplicatable problem using the nondefault options.
