OK, my Pismo is dying. It's having troubles starting up (first time-- press power button, HD spins, everything sounds like it's going, no screen, no HD activity; second time--boots as normal), going to sleep (either shuts off or kills screen when I close the lid--no sleep), and is releasing an unpleasant odor on startup. I'm prepared to sell the thing for parts on eBay (after posting info on LEM swap), but before I do, does anyone have any suggestions? I'm in the process of stripping the RAM and HD out to upgrade an iBook clamshell and perhaps a desktop. The only thing that seems at all burnt is the CPU, but I haven't gotten in very far. I haven't seen the PMU yet, and since the smell seems to be coming from that direction, that may be a likely candidate. I'd rather buy a new MacBook White (just got some scholarship money), but I want to know if it would be worth it to keep this thing running.
