what does 14x mean ? 14x faster than pismo ? really can you measure
that ?
once someone posted test results I found hard to believe until I
realized the benchmark utility was optimized for intel. I like XBench
because it knows both,

But benchmarks can only be indications, depends on the software and
what you are doing. Wordprocessing runs at the same speed no matter
even a powerbook1400 or whatever.

Funny it struck me particulary that Apple is going back toward like
the classic OS with IphoneOS. Basicly creating a larger gap between
professional developer and user, and no under the hood in particular.

It just amazes me how well my g4 550 pismo works with a good hard
drive running Tiger.

Nevertheless I was going to let go of it (too many old macs) ...
Except I keep getting handed these obsolete not updated software I
need for my work,
I have one I got a few months back needs Jaguar (on the Wally)
and just a few days ago one that needs powerpc - Tiger (on the Pismo).

Maybe this doesn't happen to other people, I don't know. These
softwares are prototypes not for sale ...
demonstrating concepts you might use in newer software but might
require special licensing, the fully functional demo free.
I picked up stuff last year from early 90's that worked only on
LinuxPPC2000 (lucky I had a copy and some extra libs wiere still
available one line).

The thing that's bumming me about the Pismo right now is the busted
audio jacks - I' having eye problems and would really like to have it
read to me with headphones. Replacement requires a complete tear down.
